Make Me Feel Special

I used to write a blog called Cute, Smart and Organized that was aimed at reminding you just how amazing you already are. The following is a post from that blog.

Words to live by on our refrigerator door-
"Our Job is to Make Others Feel Special"

Our job is to make other people feel special.

I heard these words years ago, and they really stuck with me.  Just ask my kids; it's something I repeat to them all the time.

Son: "I can't believe you can't do that homework.  That is so easy."

Me: "What you're saying is,'You're dumb and I'm way smarter.'  Would that make anyone feel special?"

Son: "You like that movie?!?"

Me: "Does that make your brother feel special?"

Son: "Moooove!!!"

Me: "Gentle words!  We want to make each other feel special!"

Do they get it?  Sometimes I really wonder! ;)  But I hope, hope, hope it's sinking into to their hearts and making an impression they can live out.  And I hope I'm living it out, too!

Our preacher, Gary Demmitt, put it this way last Sunday:

This week you're going to walk by people who need something from you.  Let them know they matter!  See a hurt, fill a need.  Let your schedule be interrupted.  Visit.  Take.  Encourage.  Do something to let others know they matter to you, that they matter so much, Christ died for them.

Powerful words to live by.  Make someone feel special this week!
